Google mailed me fifty bucks

Back when Google Adwords was just launching, I had an account setup with them but wasn't really using their advertising platform.

I guess that made me PERFECT for Google's needs.Google invited me to take part in a paid market-research.I was asked to fill out an online survey about my usage (or lack of usage) of their Adwords platform. Then, the second part was an agent would call me up... to ask another set of questions.I was told the whole process would take 30 minutes. It was Google and they were offering me $50 for it.

Why not.

I filled out the online questions. Simple questions about what I thought of the platform, what I was using, etc.And then they scheduled call.A girl from Google called me up and got right to business... she didn't waste any of my time. She got right into her questions. Basically just asking if I was aware of and had used this or that feature in Adwords.

Simple questions.

I answered.

That took about 20 minutes.

In total, Google was accurate and true to their word. I probably invested 30-minutes. Before ending the call, the girl thanked me for my time, and told me a check from Google would arrive in roughly 2 weeks and told me how to contact them if it hadn't arrived.
So I just went back to my day and didn't pay much attention.

2 weeks later... mail from Google arrives ... In the envelope, a $50 check. 30 minutes for $50 for a Google survey. Of course their Adwords survey isn't available anymore (go figure)... But companies do this all the time.

They'd rather invest $20,000 - $200,000 in market research that boost sales and usership and will earn them potentiall tens of millions more in profits instead of just "guessing".

Market research and paid-opinions are very real. They've been around since well before the internet. But the net makes is more convenient and is continually popularizing it.

That's why sites like this exist:

And while Google may not come calling you, which of these other major corporations WOULD?I recommend you read that page in detail.

In a weak economy, it's time to get creative and revisit effective, age-old concepts to build supplementary incomes online.
